Accident Investigation

When accidents happen, it’s important to know why. Even when the reason seems obvious, the real cause may be more complicated. That’s where accident investigation comes in. This information can then be used to update policies, procedures or equipment to help make sure a similar accident doesn’t occur in the future.

Our Accident Investigation training course provide employees with the information that they need to understand the goals of an accident investigation, the process itself, and how they can participate in the process to help make their workplace safer.

Topics covered in the products include:

  • Accidents and Near Misses.
  • Investigations and Root Cause Analysis.
  • The role of tools and equipment in accidents.
  • The importance of training.
  • The role procedures play in preventing accidents.
  • Learning from accidents.
  • … and more.

Arc Flash NFPA 70E Interactive training

Electricity is so common in our homes and workplaces that we normally don’t think twice about using it. But electricity kills and injures thousands of people every year, so it’s important to understand its hazards and know how to avoid them.

Electricity poses two major hazards to people who work with it. The most intense is arc flash, a violent release of electrical energy that causes severe injuries and fatalities. The second is shock, which can cause burns, internal injuries, cardiac arrest and even be fatal.

Our interactive training on Arc Flash focuses on what arc flash is, its hazards and how employees can avoid it on the job. The program provides practical procedures employees can use to protect themselves from electric shock, as well.

Topics covered in these products include:

  • Shock and how to avoid it.

Back Safety in Industrial Environments

Preventing a back injury is much easier than repairing one. Because your back is critically important to your ability to walk, sit, stand, and run, it’s important to take care of it. Most back pain arises from using your back improperly, so learning a few basic rules about lifting, posture and proper exercise can help keep your back in good shape.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than one million workers suffer back injuries each year, and back injuries account for one of every five workplace injuries or illnesses. Further, one-fourth of all compensation indemnity claims involve back injuries, costing industry billions of dollars on top of the pain and suffering borne by employees.

We tend to take our backs for granted until we are in pain! Statistics show that such strains are the most common among workers. Back problems are costly. This includes taking off precious work time. Medical experts say that back injuries have little to do with the weight of the lifted objects and everything to do with how they are lifted. Moreover, though lifting, placing, carying, holding and lowering are involved in manual materials handling (the principal cause of compensable work injuries) the BLS survey shows that four out of five of these injuries were to the lower back, and that three out of four occurred while the employee was lifting.

Nearly 80% of people will experience some type of back injury during their lifetime. This very common injury is caused by activities both on and off the job. Common causes of back injuries include lifting, twisting and reaching.
